Parag Vaish, VP of Marketing
Parag Vaish comes to Atlas Accelerator with a strong skill set in Marketing, Finance, and Business Development. His experience at Microsoft, Disney, ESPN and eBay makes him a great addition to the Atlas team.
After graduating with an MBA from Boston University, Parag developed a strong understanding of B2B marketing while at Microsoft. He developed strategies to secure advertising dollars from Telecommunications, Entertainment and Technology companies. He put together sales materials using a variety of research tools to appropriately position MSN against traditional media and competitors. Most recently, Parag managed the go-to-market launch team responsible for taking all advertising offerings of Microsoft to a global sales team. Parag developed scalable and efficient business processes to launch nearly 200 offerings in a 12 month period.
Prior to Microsoft, Parag was on the founding team of the Disney Auctions business, which was a joint venture between Disney and eBay. He was responsible for business development and marketing. He worked with just about every division of the Walt Disney Company to secure auction product for the joint venture. He was also responsible for the marketing behind the high profile auction offerings of Monday Night Football, ABC Daytime Soap Operas, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, California Adventure, Disney on Ice, and The View. Parag developed a keen understanding of how to develop marketing strategies to narrow audiences by leveraging assets of the Walt Disney Company. This understanding helps him when approaching early stage companies seeking to attract niche audiences. In the business development capacity, Parag structured agreements with Disney divisions and external companies which were mutually favorable.
At ESPN.com, Parag managed the marketing strategies and advertising materials during the launch of ESPNstore.com and NASCARstore.com. The launch marketing activities included television commercials, print campaigns, sweepstakes promotions, online advertising and various other direct marketing initiatives.
While at the Disney Studios, Parag analyzed the profitability at the green light stage of live action films from the Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, and Miramax banners. His analysis involved IRR, NPV, asset valuation, and forecasting calculations which provided the financial direction to assist in deciding if the investment for the film should be made.
Parag specializes in taking new products to market with an emphasis towards high impact marketing strategies, fiscal responsibility and a bias towards action. He has a B.S. in Finance from Cal State University Northridge, an MBA from Boston University and a Masters in Information Systems also from Boston University. During his academic years, Parag was co-author of a refereed paper which was published in a journal on business dynamics and he interned at Akamai, Microsoft and Disney.
Parag enjoys spending time traveling with his wife. He adores his two nephews and loves playing all kinds of games with them, including Xbox, basketball, soccer, bowling, and Zoo Tycoon. Although it may sound like work, Parag also enjoys developing small businesses with his friends.
